Chris Stapleton is about to go back on tour starting up next March, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Stapleton has quickly become a country music legend with his music, smooth and humble style and award wins at every award show, especially the Grammy awards, of which Chris has won eight so far. He is also the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, making his first win in the coveted ACM category back in May.
After he won that honor from the ACM, Stapleton said backstage, “I’m humbled by it, and I feel very thankful for the people that voted and think that I’m deserving of that.” He added, “I’m not sure that I am, but I’ll take it.”
His many awards don’t even end up in his home in Tennessee. Chris likes to share them with the fans. He said, “Some of them, we put them out on the road in the VIP section for people to see. For the fans to see, that’s who they belong to. I don’t feel like they really belong to me and I don’t have them in my house or anything like that. I do not sit around in a shrine of myself or anything. We try to make sure the fans get to see them and enjoy them as much as possible. Some are in the Country Music Hall of Fame and places where they can be enjoyed.”
So how will the 2023 ACM Entertainer of the Year celebrate his latest award? Stapleton offered, “I’m gonna go home. That’s how I will celebrate and wake up in my own bed.”
Last week, Chris announced a brand new album, Higher, which will be out on November 10. He also just released the first single, “White Horse,” co-written by Stapleton and Dan Wilson.
The new project is produced by Dave Cobb, Morgane Stapleton, and Stapleton; Higher was recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A. Alongside Stapleton (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide electric guitar), the album features Cobb (acoustic guitar, eclectic guitar), J.T. Cure (bass), Paul Franklin (pedal steel), Derek Mixon (drums), Morgane (background vocals, synthesizer, tambourine) and Lee Pardini (organ, piano).
